Raise your hand if you have actually opened the channels panel ? Hmm thought so.
Well channels are an important building block of Photoshop. A particular facet of Channels are Alpha Channels which allow us to save selections. If you like Selections and Alpha Channels are opposite sides of the same coin. Photoshop can’t save marching ants so any selection that you create is saved in the Channels panel as an Alpha channel.
As well as saving selections we can actually build complex selections using the individual greyscale channels and adjustments.
